For the Medical Education Development Center to become a symbol of leadership and excellence in leading and managing the continuous development of the medical education system at Merit University, at the local and international levels.

The Medical Education Development Center – Merit University is committed to formulating educational visions and strategies and leading the medical education system towards excellence

Strategic Goals

The Medical Education Development Center works in close and integrated cooperation with all departments of the college to achieve the following goals:

  • Continuous development of curricula and educational programs.

  • Updating teaching, learning and assessment methods and learning resources.

  • Raise the capabilities and skills of faculty members in order to match their educational, research and service functions.

  • Work to provide a distinctive educational environment centered on the student and provide the educational material in a way that stimulates active learning, creativity and innovation.

  • Spreading, promoting and upholding the value of professional medical ethics, ideals and social responsibility.

  • Conducting research in the field of medical education to contribute to raising the quality of the educational process.

  • Developing the system of training and continuing medical education for students and doctors at all levels.

  • Expanding the teaching of practical and clinical skills to students and doctors using simulators.

  • Expanding the use of technology and interactive e-learning in the educational process.

  • Start using distance education and hybrid education methods to face any obstacles that may arise that would impede the educational process, such as the emergence of the Corona virus in 2019.

The organizational structure of the Medical Education Development Center:

The center consists of a group of faculty members with distinguished scientific stature in the faculties of medicine, pharmacy, and physical therapy, as well as supervisors of the various units in the center, and qualified and experienced administrators and technicians at Merit University.

Courses and activities of the Medical Education Development Center

First: Training plan for faculty members and supporting staff:

A qualifying program of lectures has been prepared that includes 15 lectures divided into a group of workshops to introduce faculty members and the supporting staff to familiarize them with the basics of work at the university, the new interactive education system, and the use of technology in the success of the educational process, methods of presentation and presentation, and other important topics for the progress of the educational process .

A symposium was hosted by the Center for Cultural Affairs for cultural exchange programs at the Embassy of the United States of America to introduce the cultural and student exchange program to faculty members and the supporting staff.

Second: Training courses for doctors and students at Merit University:

This is done through training in various medical skills in cooperation with specialists from Merit University faculty  of Medicine.

  1. Course in the basics of pulmonary and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

    2. Training in suturing wounds

    3. Training on the basics of abdominal ultra-sound

Third: training courses for doctors, graduates, and internship students

Basic course of surgical laparoscopy

Fourth: medical and awareness convoys against various diseases

A medical convoy entitled Early detection and awareness of the dangers of diabetes on the kidneys and retina

Organizing a medical convoy entitled Diagnostic x-rays for the lower back and lumbar region, and setting free physiotherapy sessions at Merit University.
